• Image of Mashrabiya Bookmark

These wooden bookmarks are inspired by the Mashrabiya, the latticework feature traditional to Islamic architecture. The pattern itself, the hanbaliya, derives from Sadu, the Bedouin weaving of the desert. When hit by the light, the pattern forms a play of light and shadows, gracefully blanketing the surface. The tassel was hand-braided by one of the few remaining Sadu weavers in Kuwait.
